We found out the news yesterday, and there were many different reactions to the news. Zach Wilson has been traded to the Denver Broncos, and it has gained tons of different reactions, most of which are negative.
Zach Wilson went to Brigham Young University and showed a lot of potentional coming into the league. He got drafted in the first round as the second pick to the New York Jets. As all football fans know, the New York Jets are where qaurterbacks go to die, for example: Sam Darnold, Josh McCown, Mike White, etc. So obviously, Broncos fans are going to be skeptical of the trade.
Me personally, I think that the trade is not the worse thing in the world and it could end up being good. He was promising in college, and had no help in New York except for Garret Wilson. Wilson hasnt put up the most promising of numbers in the last 3 seasons he has played, but he is yet to play a full season. Here are his seasons by the numbers:
2021 – 2,334 yards, 55.6% completion rate, 9 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 13 games played
2022 – 1,688 yards, 54.5% completion rate, 6 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 9 games played
2023 – 2,271 yards, 60.1% completion rate, 8 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 12 games played
These numbers are not impressive by anyones standards, but for some reason I still have hope for Wilson in Denver. This might be wishful thinking but I think we can turn his career around and make him into a franchise quaterback.
On the bright side, the Broncos released some new uniforms that Wilson will make his debut in. The font on the jerseys in the numbers is a little cleaner than the old ones, and the throwbacks they released are super clean. They have the traditional striping that the old uniforms had on the helmt, as well as down the side of the pant.
