One of the most famous races across the country took place this past weekend, The Boston Marathon. From 1897-1968 the Boston Marathon has been help on Patriots Day, April 19th, a holiday commemoration the start of the Revolutionary War. The only time it would not is when the 19th fell on a Sunday it would be moved to the following day. There have been many Olympic champions who have ran the Boston Marathon . Kenyas Peres Jepchirchir became the fourth woman to win both the Boston Marathon and Olympic Marathon titles. Three-time Boston women’s champion Fatima Roba became the third woman and fourth person to win the Olympic Marathon Games and the Boston Marathon when she posted a 2:26:23.
Running in the Boston Marathon can get you a bid into the Olympics.
Holy Family High School head cross country and track and field coach went to the most recent Boston Marathon. He took 155th place out of about 20,000 people. He ran a stellar time of 2:31:44. During the race he averaged about 10 miles per hour the entire time and 3 of the miles going 8 mph and two going 9mph the rest he was going 10mph. He averaged 5:48 minutes per mile.
Before his time at Holy Family he ran track and cross country at Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. During the 2016-17 indoor season he participated in six meets. He had a best 800 meter in 1:56. He also ran in the 4×4 relay at the Big Sky Championships finishing with a time of 3:21:28 where his team placed 9th overall. In the outdoor season he again participated in six meets where he had a PR in the 400 with a time of 51.75. Later that season he set a PR in the 1500m with a time of 4:10.98.
In his sophomore season he competed in 4 meets during the outdoor season. He finished 7th in the 4×4 running a time for of 3:40.62. And then he finished 3rd in the 1500m at the NoCo Challenge with a time of 4:03.37.
In his junior season he had a lot of personal bests int eh 5k, 8k, and 10k. He ran a 16:20.7 in the 5k. 25:20.9 in the 8k. And in the 10k he ran a 32.12.0.
Isaiah is a native of Colorado and attended Frontier Academy. Congratulations to teacher and coach Remington for placing 155th in the super challenging and very famous Boston Marathon, the school and you players are very proud of you and your huge accomplishment.
