When it comes down to the top movies of all time there are many factors. Including cinematography, soundtrack, acting, and much more. But I have narrowed down my list to my top four movies of all time.
4. Interstellar
Starting off with a banger at number 5 we have the movie interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan. In case you haven’t seen it, the movie is about NASA’s mission to find a planet beyond the solar system suitable for human life. While in this mission we are able to see some of the best cinematography whilst in space. The team travels through a wormhole near Saturn in order to get into a different galaxy. This movie is a very mind twisting movie as there are many aspects of time travel and Time Dilation. The soundtrack in this movie is also a very big part of the movie as we get the classic interstellar piano and violin.
3. Avatar Series
At number four I’m going to put Avatar one and two because I simply can’t pick one or the other. Again both of these movies have phenomenal cinematography and soundtracks. The movies are about humans attempting to mine unobtanium on a new found planet called Pandora. The natives of Pandora have a strong hate towards the humans but in order to try and fix this the Humans create their own Avatar clones to become like the native Avatars. However while in the Avatar state many of them start to turn against the humans leading to a war. The planet Pandora itself is a very beautiful planet with shots of its vibrant colors and crazy nature.
2. Dune 1 and 2
The Dune movies have a very similar plot as the Avatar series. In Dune we follow the main character Paul Atredies who is a teenager who as been born into royalty and also is gifted with powers such as being able to see into the future. The royalty that Paul is in is a mining kingdom which mines spices on the planet Arrakis. The natives of Arrakis obviously don’t like the kingdom that has invaded their planet for money. There are some of the best shots I have ever seen in a movie which brings a very similar feeling as Tatooine in Star Wars. There is also a very beautiful soundtrack mainly consisting of light piano and violin.
1.Oppenheimer
If you haven’t noticed by now Christopher Nolan directs very good movies and this is another great movie with extremely good cinematography and directing. This movie is about the creation of the first atomic bomb made by Oppenheimer. Throughout the movie Oppenheimer doesn’t know whether he is on the side of right or wrong because he has now given the power to take many innocent lives but also the power to protect many innocent lives. The shots of the atomic bomb actually detonating and the movies buildup to that moment are very beautiful. The soundtrack throughout the movie is constantly building up to the biggest point of the movie and that is the detonation of the bomb during testing.
