Megan Thee Stallion released a song “Hiss” and it was directed towards blogs, exes, crap-talkers , and Z-list people. She takes shots at several unnamed targets. Aside from the general crowd of online haters, fans have linked some of her jabs to Drake and an ex-boyfriend, rapper Pardison Fontaine. In her song she had a line “These h**s don’t be mad at Megan, these h**s be mad at Megan’s Law. She did not mention Nicki Minaj in any way but she still took offense to that line. Here’s why Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenny Patty is an American convicted sex offender. Here is why Nicki Minaj took it personal. Megan’s Law is arms the public with certain information on the whereabouts of dangerous sex offenders so that local communities may protect themselves and their children. Keep in mind that the song “Hiss” did not mention Nicki at all.
Nicki Minaj decided to respond to this, and she released a diss-track “Big Foot” where she completely dissed on Megan Thee Stallion. Mentioning her dead mother and the incident with Tory Lanez (she got shot in the foot by Tory). Despite the song racking up millions of views and streams, it has largely been received poorly by critics and social media users across both Megan’s and Minaj’s fan bases. It feels like a turning point in Minaj’s career as one of the most respected female rappers in the game.
Minaj and Megan weren’t always on bad terms. In 2019, they collaborated on Megan’s single “Hot Girl Summer” and filmed a music video dressed in matching outfits and wigs. During the song’s release, the two appeared on Instagram Live together, and Megan gushed about Minaj on X. In light of recent events, a user reply to Megan’s post warning her that “this peace ain’t gonna last” has gone viral. It seems that intuition was spot-on.
It’s unclear when the beef started, but ever since Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B collaborated. The pair collabed most famously on the 2020 hit “WAP” and more recently on 2023’s “Bongos.” Minaj previously sparred with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper after both featured on Migos’s 2017 song “MotorSport,” which escalated into a physical altercation. However, in a November 2020 interview, Megan claimed that her relationship with Minaj hadn’t changed despite her affiliation with Cardi.
I believe this whole drama with both of them, is really unnecessary. This all started because Nicki Minaj took the line personal, and decided to turn it into something bigger. Megan hasn’t responded to all of this drama, but mostly everyone agrees that Nicki is in the wrong here, most especially for mentioning her dead mother. Like yes, Megan said something about Megan’s Law and Nicki’s husband happens to be a sex offender, but if the shoe fits wear it. This is a reminder that, no matter what you say with what intentions you say it with, everyone will end forming their own opinions and creating scandals that weren’t even supposed to happen in the first place. I’m still a barb though!
