Round 2 of the NFL playoffs are here. I missed on a couple key match ups, but I got a few upsets right. I think I picked too many upsets and didn’t take into account home field advantage too well. There were some great games last weekend, and hopefully that’ll continue this weekend. The divisional round is always more intense, and we’ll see some familiar face offs between teams.
In the AFC, the 1 seeded Ravens take on the red hot Texans led by rookie sensation CJ Stroud. The Texans rolled past the Browns, winning by over 30 points in an absolute massacre. But now they take on the Juggernaut 1 seed in the Baltimore Ravens. This Ravens team has the number 1 defense in every main category, and their offense is looking to keep producing led by MVP front-runner Lamar Jackson. They’re the 1 seed for a reason, and are 8 point favorites versus the Texans. The Texans are a young team with a young coach, and it’s looking like their Cinderella story is coming to an end. The only hope the Texans have is for CJ Stroud to put the team on his back and turn it into a shootout, as I don’t see Houston’s defense stopping Lamar.
The Bills play the Chiefs at home, and are yet to beat the Chiefs in the divisional. This game has shoot-out potential with two explosive offenses, so the game may come down to whoever has the ball last, much like last time the teams faced. I don’t want to jinx myself betting against Patrick Mahomes again, but give me the Bills with a Josh Allen masterclass in Highmark Stadium. Surely the Bills are due to beat the Chiefs, right? The Chiefs are still good, but they are not the same Chiefs, averaging their lowest points per game this year since acquiring star QB Patrick Mahomes. The Bills at home are a different beast, and I have faith in my fantasy QB Josh Allen.
In the NFC we have quite the unexpected divisional round. We have the 1 seeded Niners taking on the 7 seeded Packers. This is the first 7 seed to ever win in the first round, and I was all over the Packers from the start. We witnessed a Jordan Love masterclass take down Dak and the Cowgirls as they choke in the playoffs like usual. The Packers have to be studied the way they develop quarterbacks, as they’ve had 3 quarterbacks over the past 25 something years and they’ve all been good. Unfortunately, I don’t know if anyone will take down the Niners. The Packers defense is going to get ran over by Christian McCaffery, not to mention Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle. This is going to be a very high scoring game, but I have the Niners coming out on top with this one.
The last game left is the 3 seeded Lions taking on the 5 seeded Bucs. These two teams are playing arguably the best ball they’ve played all year, and at the right time. The Lions were able to take down Matt Stafford in a 1 point victory for their first playoff win in 32 years. The city is electric and the stadium was juiced. The Bucs took down the fraudulent Eagles as home underdogs, but will have to travel to Detroit for this game. These two teams have explosive offenses, but not great defenses, especially in the secondary. There’s been some social Media trash talking between Bakery Mayfield, the Buc’s QB, and the Lion’s safeties. Things are getting tense, and this game looks like its a recipe for game of the weekend. I love the Lions, but GIVE ME BAKER OR GIVE ME DEATH. I want the Bucs. I’m all over the Bucs. I need the Bucs. This might be a terrible pick, but taking the favorites is boring and I want the NFC south dogs.
