2023-2024 National Champion Michigan

The 2023-2024 football National Champions goes to the Michigan Wolverines. They took down the second ranked Washington Huskies 34-13 at NRG Stadium in Houston on Monday.

The run game for the Wolverines could not be stopped and the had 303 rushing yards and four scores. Donavan Edwards got the scoring going with a rush of 41 yards to find the end zone. Washington’s next drive they kicked a field goal to go down 7-3. The very next drive for Michigan Edwards found the end zone yet again with a 46 yard rush. The first quarter came to a close with a score of 14-3.

The Huskies were just not able to string together drives. With 40 seconds left before halftime they were able to put together a scoring drive. Washington quarterback and Heisman finalist Michael Penix Jr. connected on a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jalen McMillan.

Penix was not able to replicate what he did in the semifinal game against Texas. Only throwing for 255 passing yards and one touchdown. He also threw for 2 interceptions in key moments. Washington was never able to get anything going. Having only 46 rushing yards and 255 passing yards, for a total of 303 yards on the game. On the other side of things Michigan could pretty much do whatever they wanted to.

Blake Corum rushed for 134 and two touchdowns. His touchdowns broke the Michigan rushing record as he finished with 56 in his career. JJ McCarthy only completed 10 passes for 140 yards but that was enough to get it done because the Huskies were not able to stop the run game. They finished with 443 yards, 140 passing and 303 rushing.

Michigan has had to overcome a lot of adversity this year. A sign stealing scandal that broke the headlines on October 19, 2023. Michigan had an off field analyst going to future opponent games and filming there sidelines to see there signs that the coaches are giving during the game.

Connor Stallions was the man that was doing this. He went to 35 games across 17 stadiums and also went to Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and Clemson. Jim Harbaugh has denied all the accusations that were thrown at him. He also attended 12 home Ohio State football games.

He was suspended for a total of 6 games, there was three at the beginning of the year and three at the end of the year. The games that he was sidelined the Wolverines went 6-0. They played ECU, UNLV, Bowling Green, Penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State. That is the third year in a row that they have beet Ryan Day.

Michigan players were often warming up in shirts that said “Michigan vs Everybody” and “Free Harbaugh”

With all of this happening Michigan was still able to overcome everything and have a perfect season winning every game that they played. They had a chip on there shoulder all season and did not let anything affect them and there season.

In the after game interview Harbaugh said, “I can know sit at the big kids table.” Referring to his father and brother who have both won championships. His dad won the FCS championship when he was the head coach at Western Kentucky and his brother John Harbaugh won the 2012 Super Bowl.

Michigan did the unthinkable and won the Championship going undefeated.
