The Golden Globes, established in 1944 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), stand as one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the entertainment industry. Recognizing excellence in film and television, the event marks the beginning of the annual awards season. The unique aspect of the Golden Globes is its division into two main categories: film and television. This dual focus allows for a diverse array of talent and productions to be celebrated. However it does not get into the “nitty gritty” of production like cinematography and editing.
Known for its star-studded red carpet and glamorous atmosphere, the Golden Globes bring together A-list celebrities, filmmakers, and television personalities. The awards ceremony has become a cultural phenomenon, capturing global attention and influencing subsequent awards shows.

First, a huge congratulations to all of the performers and artists, while I may have not seen all these productions, I’m sure they’re all well deserving. Second, as with anything, the Golden Globes have not been without controversy. The HFPA has faced scrutiny for its lack of diversity, both in its membership and nominations, leading to calls for reform within the industry. In 2022, the Golden Globes were canceled due to the ongoing criticism and the need for substantial changes within the HFPA. Additionally with the SAG-AFTRA strikes this year, many people are unaware of these productions because marketing was put on hold (plenty of these films I highly recommend, but that would need to be a whole other story).
As the entertainment landscape evolves, the future of the Golden Globes remains uncertain. The industry and audiences alike continue to question and demand inclusivity and fairness in the recognition of talent and achievement. So let us recognize these wonderful entertainers, but also remember the constant need for change within the entertainment industry.
