Its the moment we have all been waiting for in the realm of college football! It is officialy Bowl season.
The history of bowl games in college football
If you put down a parlay with all of these picks, your bank account will be BLESSED.
We all know about the Florida State/Alabama controversy but we are not going to talk about it, all we care about in the story is money making.
With that being said, I really dont know who is going to win the Orange Bowl between the Florida State Seminoles and the reigning championshi Georgia game, I think it could go one of two ways. The obvious way being Georgia has no problem handling the Noles and strating quaterback true freshman Glenn Brooks.
Now to go back in time with the first bowl game of bowl season which is on Saturday, December 16th, at 9 A.M. It is the Ohio Bobcats, taking on Georgia Southern, I honestly have no clue who is going to win this game, or who is even favored to win this game but I am going to take Georgia Southern!
All of the games at this point in time are a ton of mid major teams so I am not really going to talk about my prediction, mainly because I dont even know who is good, and havent watched any of the teams play.
But now, for the big bowl games which start around December 23rd, it is the Duke Blue Devils, taking on the Troy Trojans in the 76 Birmigham bowl. The Duke Blue Devils had a historic year, and a lot of suprising games with quaterback Riley Leonard, who will be playing for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame next year. Even though the Troy is a great team and came out winning the Sun Belt Conference, I am going to take the Blue Devils.
Another team that turned some heads and gets their first ever chance at a bowl game after some controversy, is the James Madison Dukes, taking on our own Air Force Falcons in the Lockeed Martin Armed Forces bowl. James Madison moved up from FCS division one last year, and were technically not allowed by the NCAA to play in a bowl game, but because of the lack of 6 win teams, they are going to get a chance to shock the world agaisnt the Falcons. Air Force started the year off hot but the wheels have kind of fell off in the late part of the season, so I am going to roll with the momentum, and take James Madison to beat the Falcons.
Fast forward past Christmas, and we get some really good games. On December 27th, the Texas A&M Aggies are taking on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. I personally dont think very highly of either of these teams, but they have both earned themselves a spot in the Taxact Texas bowl. I will be taking Texas A&M to beat the Cowboys, in what could be seem as a home game for the Aggies.
And now, for the College Football Playoff semifinals, we have Michigan playing Alabama in the grandaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena California. Some people question if Alabama should have made the playoffs, and I think it was a fair decision to put them in. With that being said, I am taking 4 seeded Alabama to beat the top seeded Wolverines. I think it will be a good game, but the speed in the SEC, is unmatched.
For the other side of the playoff bracket, in the Allstate Sugar bowl, it is the 2 seed Washington Huskies, taking on the Texas Longhorns. Washington had a great year as they beat Oregon twice, and some other dangerous PAC12 teams. I will be taking another upset, as I am taking the Longhorns to beat the Huskies, and advance to the Championship.
If I am correct, this would call for a rematch between Alabama and Texas in the championship. They played pretty early in the season, and Bama and specifically Jalen Milroe have grown quite a bit. Even though Texas won in an exciting game earlier in the season(34-24), I am rolling with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide, to win in another close and exciting game over the Longhorns.
Merry bowl season!
