After a long hiatus Obese Santa review is back and this time actually reviewing food, because somehow everyone is suddenly interested in writing about the best holiday of the year. And this week I was trying to see if there were any cool items at restaurants that would be fun for a food review.
But after looking at the options, and other than a few underwhelming options I was super disappointed and somewhat crushed.
I scoured the internet and only ended up discovering two items that were even worth the time/story. Those being Freddy’s Oreo Peppermint milkshake and Starbucks White Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
I Started out the cold morning with the White Peppermint Hot chocolate that was so good that I felt like a spoiled white girl named Becky. Now the only problem with going out to buy hot coco is that one could just make one at home, granted it could not taste as good but it will be in the same realm. Unless you have a master coco maker at home, like I do (me), you can never really have anything better.
However this peppermint hot coco is one that I could not even begin to try and understand what went into it. Like every good coco it had the heavy creme giving it the texture and the chocolate taste, however you then get blasted with the overpowering white chocolate taste combined with the unstoppable force that is the peppermint and then you are left with a drink that makes you feel like you are drinking straight heaven while on top of both a frozen ice peak, but still allows you feel all warm on the inside.
I am not usually a Starbucks guy, as I think they are usually overpriced, overcrowded, and they make you feel like you dont have a real personality so you pretend that drinking caffeine is one. *cough* *cough* Trevor *cough* *cough* basis white teenagers
But in this case with the peppermint hot coco, I would go get it everyday when its cold out as a way to stay warm and still kick start the day.
Now doing a semi 180, like the chargers over the past 4 weeks (they went from playoff contenders to, as of right now losing to Aiden O’Connell 63-7) we are going from a drink centered on warming you up in the harsh winter climate, to giving you a drop of at least 20 degrees when you drink it.
Freddy’s Oreo Peppermint milkshake was a thing of just pure beauty. At first I was a bit hesitant because again we are in the middle of December but all of the doubts
went away in the blink of an eye after I was able to take my first look at the beaut.
The Oreo Peppermint shake was much like the hot chocolate, as in the usual chocolate flavor was enhanced while adding another flavor profile.
The milkshake had all of the milky goodness that you expect from this treat, while again sending your mouth up North to mountain peak with all of the freshness.
But even with some really delicious drinks I am still saddened and confused why there werent any more options unique to this time of year. Like Halloween has the Monster Mac ( I wrote a story about it you should go check it out) and the Fourth of July has those amazing popsicles, yet the most wonderful time of the year doesnt have more than a few slim pickings.
To be fair, it would not have mattered one single bit if a restaurant had a great number of selection, homemade cookies, with milk, while sitting down and wathcing a movie is a feeling that will forever be unmatched.
