In recent years, runways and magazines have been overrun by a new type of model, the nepotism babies. Nepo models are the children celebrities, usually supermodels. It’s more than likely that your favorite model is a nepo baby.
Nepo babies have always existed but Devon Aoki put the phrase on the map. Deon is the daughter of Rocky Aoki and Pamela Hilberger. Devon’s rise to fame in the early 2000’s was fast and it wasn’t long until everyone was talking about her. Despite being only 5’5, she was discovered by Kate Moss herself and thrown onto the runway. When she was only 16, she replaced the legendary Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace.
The Hadid sisters are two of the highest paid models in the world. Having walked all of the most famous runways, Bella and Gigi have made a huge mark on the runway. The pair are the daughters of Yolanda Hadid and Mohamed Hadid and have been modeling since they were very young. The Hadid’s were featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in season 3 and that it where most of the world first met Gigi and Bella. Lila Moss is 20 years old and the daughter of Kate Moss. The mother and daughter pair are nearly identical, setting off the fame for Lila. Despite being the daughter of one of the biggest models of the 90’s, Lila has not had as much runway experience as the other nepo models. Hailey Bieber has been making headlines for years. She is the daughter of Stephen Baldwin and the wife of Justin Bieber. Along with being a model, Hailey also founded and is the creative director of the beauty brand, Rhode Beauty. Hailey has been at the front of the media for about a year due to her scandal with Justin’s ex, Selena Gomez. This alleged beef was never confirmed by either of the girls, but it has been all anyone can talk about all year.
The final, and most known nepo model is Kendall Jenner. Kendall has been in the eye of the public since the airing of her family’s show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Kendall was 11 when the show first aired, but she didn’t start modeling until she was 14. Kendall is 5 ’11, the tallest of the sisters and has a slim figure compared to her sister’s curvy builds. Despite Kendall walking every big runway in the industry, she is widely known for her family’s long running show.
