Colorado is known for its wonderful scenery! With the different places to visit, there are so many things you can do while visiting here that aren’t just skiing.
I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life, and I’m not really a person who is outside frequently, however, I have been going out more during the year, and would like to share a few I have been to!
One of my favorites is the hot springs! You can find these anywhere in the mountains, but I prefer Glenwood Springs, which is what they are known for. Glenwood Springs is surrounded by the vast White River National Forest. It’s filled with wildlife and fearures like Hanging Lake, which a hike that you climb and the top is a crystal blue lake. There’s a lot to do in Glenwood Springs, it’s definitely a place worth visting.
Another place that I recommend visiting during the holidays, is Aspen. Aspen is tiny town that is tucked away in the Rocky Mountains. It’s home to less than 8,000 residents, but it’s famous for its luxury lifestyle and best ski resorts. Many celebrities come here to spend the holidays, or to ski. Something to keep in mind, is the cost of traveling up there. It’s one of the most expensive resorts in the U.S. but the experience is always worth it. To get the greatest experience it is recommended to grab a craft cocktail at Little Mell’s Living Room or go to a hedonistic pool party at 39 Degrees Lounge.
If the mountains isn’t really your thing, you can always go to Downtown Denver. Which has endless amounts of restaurants with tons of varities of foods. It’s known for the historic Larimer Square, which is block long and lined with beautiful red brick buildings, string lights, and lush trees. It’s home to hip boutiques, bistros, and vibrant wine bars and clubs.
Like music? A great place to go while being here is to go to a concert at Red Rocks. Artists around the world come and perform here. It’s endless beauty and scenery is what makes Red Rocks such a attractive place to go to. It’s open-air and can fit tons of people. The surrounding rocks somehow create perfect acoustics for live performances. This venue is only 15 minutes away from Denver, so it’s pretty close. However, the hike and trip is pretty hectic to get up there, it’s always worth it in the end.
Last but not least, is the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. This hotel was built in 1909 and was a lavish getaway for East Coast elites, who were impressed by the hotel’s electric lights, steam cars, and uniformed staff. This 142-room Colonial Revival hotel was the inspiration behind The Shining. If it weren’t for King’s visit the hotel would most likely fallen into ruins. This hotel is knwon for it’s paranormal activity, and if you are into that, you can always book a room and get a little spooked while you are there!
Colorado is a wonderful state with endless things to do or visit, but here are some of the most famous and most popular attractions in this beautiful state!
