Tonight at 6 p.m. ET the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs kicks off the NHL Frozen Frenzy.
The Frozen Frenzy is when every single team in NHL plays, every game being staggered about 15 minutes apart, 16 games in one night. This allows for fans to watch a bit of every single game and watch all their favorite teams.
Being a Colorado native and a woman of taste I care only about one team: the Avalanche. The Avs have been having a phenomenal season so far, being one of three teams that is still undefeated (Avs, Bruins, and Knights), and they don’t seem to be losing any momentum. Tonight they faceoff against the New York Islanders (8 p.m. ET), a team that is currently 2-1-1 and is ranked 17 overall. Lets just say fans (me specifically) are hoping for an opportunity for the boys to get their goal differential up and put another win in the bag.
A game that will have all eyes on it will be Boston vs. Chicago. Chicago recently drafted Connor Bedard with the No. 1 pick in the most recent draft, Bedard has since been branded as the NHL golden boy and there is an immense amount of pressure to play well on a poor performing team.
The Blackhawks are currently 2-4-0 and ranked 26 overall, this being an improvement from last season where they were ranked No. 3o overall. The introduction of Bedard is hopefully the beginning of a new era for the Blackhawks and the team rebuilding their team. Last season the Blackhawks had a dramatic win against the Bruins when they beat them. It was dramatic because the Bruins were ranked No. 1 overall at the time and the Blackhawks were No. 32. Tonight the Bruins have a chance to redeem themselves of a loss that can only be called embarrassing.
Tonight as not only a Colorado fan but a hockey fan, I’m excited to see how each team performs and see where each team falls in the rankings showing us what we might be in for as the season continues. More importantly though, I hope everyone and their family tunes in tonight to see the Avalanche dominate.
