The great thing about music is everybody has an opinion and everybody’s opinion is right. Music means something different to everyone. People might use music to relax, hype them up, or vibe. Music is more than just a combination of sounds, it is an antidote for emotion when words fail-these are my top songs of all time (in no particular order):
Starting off strong, one of the most beautifully orchestrated songs ever made is Live Well by Palace. When this song first blessed my ears, it became an obsession. Not only do the lyrics tell a hopeful story as Palace does so well, the guitar and other instruments tie together like no other song I’ve ever heard. Out of all the songs on this list, I cannot preach enough how bad you need to listen.
Black by The Grogans is one of the most satisfying songs ever. With a quick 2 minute and 12 second listen, I found myself putting this song on repeat a lot more than once. The sound of lead singer Quin Grunden’s voice mixes with the slowed down vibe and electric guitar riffs in the background.
It wouldn’t be a Sofia Mazzulla list without Taylor Swift. The song Dress off of reputation has been my favorite song on the face of this planet ever since I’ve heard it. I can’t even put into words how much I adore this song. If it’s the last thing you do in life, please listen to Dress by Taylor Swift.
So Good At Being in Trouble by Unknown Mortal Orchestra scratches my brain in the best way. Although it is repetitive, the instruments and vocals are the best combination I”ve heard in a while. This tune has been on repeat for a month and I can’t seem to get tired of it.
Currents by Tame Impala is one of the best albums ever made and I will take that to the grave with me. Gossip is a beautifully produced song. It has no lyrics at all, but the best sounds you will ever hear.
Messin’ Around by Goth Babe has found a shelter in almost every single one of my playlists. This song really delivers bedroom pop vibes mixed with beach house and guitar sounds. It all blends very well together. Goth Babe doesn’t make music like this anymore and I wish to this day that he would bring this sound back as this is one of my most favorite songs on earth.
I’ve been a One Direction girl since I was 7 and I continued to follow them as they all went their separate ways. During all of their solo careers, I followed Harry Styles and worship him as a musician (one of the best of our time.. sorry not sorry). Little Freak by Harry Styles is probably one of the best things to ever happen to me. As there are many suspicions as to what it is actually about, the sound of it is so angelic I cry when I listen.
To wrap up this list of my top songs, one of the best pieces of art produced is She’s Alright off of American Heartbreak by Zachary Lane Bryan. Not only do the lyrics tell a beautiful story, but the sound of his voice and folky guitar get me every time. I can go on and on about ZLB, American Heartbreak, and this song.
